Hello folks. Yesterday I installed a fresh wp, but could not access the admin panel. When I typed site.com/wp-login.php or /wp-admin the page said that the url was wrong so error was like “404 could not find”. I’ve searched for hours for solutions and almost every one that I found, suggested that the problem is with plugins. Now note that it’s a fresh copy, so I don’t have any plugins installed yet, there’s not even a .htaccess file in the file manager. Permission or w/e that it’s called is also set to 755. When I installed the wp, it gave me the link to the admin panel, when I pressed it, got 404 error. I also got the e-mail with the same link, still it’s 404 error. So can anyone please tell me, how can I access the admin panel.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi, are you able to provide a link to your site?

Additionally, have you tried manually creating the .htaccess file? Manually create the .htaccess using the settings at https://codex.www.ads-software.com/htaccess#Basic_WP then try to visit your site.com/wp-login.php.

    Hello Snic560,

Sorry for the problem with the login to your WordPress site. If you can provide us a URL that you’re using we might be able to provide some answers for you. If you’re getting a 404, then URL used for installing is not pointing to your current hosting server or the files are simply not there. How did run the installation? If you used the installation based on the WordPress files, then you should have used the URL in order to complete the installation. Please double-check the steps you used in the installation of WP. If you copied the WordPress files into the folder for that URL, then you should be able to pull up the site, at the very least. With the domain name, we can at least check to make sure that it is valid and recognized on the internet.

Please check how your ran your installation and and provide us a little more information so that we can help troubleshoot the problem.

    Regards,
    Arnel C.
