• Hi.
I use ipower as a host and they have an installcentral that upgraded my 2.7 to 2.8. I upgraded and it worked fine for a day then it suddenly didn’t. I was getting a server error and the page won’t load. I tried refreshing my wordpress folder but still nothing.

I tried to install a new wordpress instance with a new database and new site folder. Except now it’s version 2.9 i think. And it’s still giving me the 500 Server error.

Is there a way that from a gzip database backup I can get a wordpress blog (copy) running again? Just so I can copy some important posts that I have.

    Thanks!

If you know where your server error log is, trigger the error 500 again and immediately check the server error log. Typically, the server error log will give a great description of what’s causing the problem.

thanks for the reply macmanx. sorry, i don’t know where the error log is. i’ll try the ipower support if they know. well, they should. but they couldn’t fix my problem when i chatted with them. they were the ones who suggested i do a fresh install. i’m thinking it has something to do with the htaccess file too.
