• I have not been able to access my dashboard for the last 3 days.

I have cleared browser, cookies, gone to websitedomainname.org/wp-admin … -wp-login.php, etc. I can get the admin login page, but it does not take me to the dashboard. I only get a blank screen.

I also went through ftp and deleted all plug-ins. This also did not help.

    Any suggestions?

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    Have you tried:

-deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to narrow down the problem. If the problem goes away, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).

If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try deactivating plugins manually via FTP or phpMyAdmin.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems (because the hooks remain unless plugins completely removed or some plugins stick around in cached files. So by renaming the folder, you break them and force them inactive).

-switching to the unedited default theme (Twenty Eleven) for a moment by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes. The idea is to force WordPress to fall back to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue.

If you don’t have access to your admin area, then access your server via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

-If the above troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, try manually re-upload all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory from a fresh download of WordPress. This should replace your core files without changing your content and settings in wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory.

Thank you. I did the above. It appears to be a theme issue. When I renamed the theme and then tried to access the dashboard, I could. But now nothing comes up on the website.

Do I have to start over? Re-loading the theme, adding all the pages, etc?

    Can you clarify?

that means your theme was broken.

Re-upload a fresh, unpacked, copy of the Twenty Eleven folder to wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

I really appreciate your help. I am brand-new at this.

I uploaded a twenty eleven. Now my website looks like this. I had spent quite a bit of time customizing my original theme to have all the features and appearance and menu bar I wanted. How do I get that back?

That’s the reason it is recommnded you create the Child Theme and work with it. This way, when you upgrade the WP or the theme, nothing gets overwritten.

Have recently started working with a new clients wordpress blog but once logged in I can’t access the dashboard, nothing comes up at all, either a white screen (1st log in) and now it just does nothing and I still see the blog.

I just want to get to the media folder in dashboard!

Any help? I’m sorry I can’t even tell you what version…

I can log in to WordPress but I can’t access my dashboard. When I click on dashboard, the system kicks me back to the log in page. When I try logging in on that page, it claims my user name or password is incorrect. I’ve reset my password four times trying to resolve the issue but get the same error every time. I’ve also cleared all cookies and tried three different browsers with the same problem on each. https://www.quaintlore.com
