• I updated wordpress just recently. First I backed up my database in godaddy (as wordpress recommended) and then went back to the dashboard to upgrade wordpress. I do not know/can’t remember what I did, but now I cannot get to my dashboard at all. When I log in to admin, this is what comes up:

    No Results Found

The page you requested could not be found. Try refining your search, or use the navigation above to locate the post.

I can navigate through my blog just fine. Somehow the dashboard is gone. Help!

    blog is mediasmackdown.net

  • If you download a fresh copy of WordPress, then delete and replace just the wp-admin directory on your host with the one in your fresh copy, it’ll probably do the trick.

I don’t know the cause, but this has happened to me a couple of times when using the built-in updater and replacing the wp-admin directory did the trick.

It worked! Thank you so very much. J

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried this on 3.4.1 and the same results. I get a dotted line around where the admin dashboard should be and the only thing loading on wp-admin is the news stuff.

My bad. My browser had cached the dashboard. Once I replaced the wp-admin directory, everything worked.

how do you upload the wp-admin file? when we click on the file to upload it to the ftp server, the file opens up and shows many other files.
