• I switched to www.ads-software.com a month ago, and have had no problem up to now. When I was prompted to login again, I tried and could not get in. I have been able to login here using my login and password, but when I try to get to the dashboard I am sent back to the login page, and then told that either the login or password is incorrect.

I made no changes to the site before this. As far as I can tell, my login just timed out and I was prompted to log in again, possibly for the first time. My domain provided is Bluehost, and my website is https://www.miriamseidel.com.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Can you elaborate on this part? Who prompted you to log in again? This is not a standard function of WordPress, so I just want to make sure nothing weird is going on… I don’t think it is, but it almost sounds like a phishing email!

It looks like maybe you are using Jetpack Protect (I get a message saying “Prove your humanity:).

This may be causing the problem potentially. One option would be to try deleting or renaming the Jetpack plugin folder via FTP.

You can also consider speaking to BlueHost if that is something you don’t know how to do, I’m sure they will give you a little assistance.

My first recommendation is to try a different browser. I myself was just having similar problems and tried a different browser and it worked.

If that doesn’t work then try a reboot of your computer.

If that doesn’t work then log into blue host and rename your plugins. What I will generally do in this instance is rename each plugin folder by adding a 1 to the name.

Then see if you can get in. If you are not sure how to do that my tutorial may help you. Not all of the tutorial is relevant but it has these steps in it.

    I hope that this helps.

Thank you! I called Bluehost and was able to reset my password. I didn’t understand that there were two different accounts, one for www.ads-software.com and one for my www.ads-software.com domain software, which is handled thru Bluehost.

I do have another issue which I hope you can help me with!

Since I recently moved to the www.ads-software.com website but hadn’t yet put in Akismet, I’ve been getting a lot of spam. I believe I accidentally “marked as spam” several legitimate commenters while removing spam commenters. Is there any way I can clear them out of the spam list or folder or whatever it is? I would hate for these legitimate bloggers to suffer any consequences from my error.

Thank you in advance! If I need to start a new thread for this, please let me know and I will do that.

Are those comments still in your spam folder? If so, just unspam them there.

    Glad it is resolved ??

Greg, no, I didn’t realize it right away. I see the spam in the folder goes back to 6/15, and I guess I “marked” them before that.

    Hi Miriam,

Did you mark those messages as spam, or just delete them? I looked over the Akismet stats for miriamseidel.com and only see one message marked as a missed spam comment, and that was back in January of this year.

If you trashed them, it’s probably not a big deal from a spam perspective, aside from losing the comments. Happy to discuss this further, but probably better for it to be out of the public view when we start talking about account specific stuff.

Drop me a line here if you’d like to continue offline, just include a reference this thread:

Thank you Greg! I thought that I picked “mark as spam” for all of the spam commenters. So I can get to you via the akismet.com/contact link?

    Absolutely!
