I haven’t updated my blog for a long time, and when I tried to edit some of my old post, I found that my password wasn’t working anymore.

I have tried Lost Password request a dozen times and each time still couldn’t get access to the site.

The last time I used emergency.php as suggested somewhere here, got the email message that my password has changed but still couldn’t login. I just deleted the emergency.php and write this post.

I have scanned my site as someone suggested here but sucuri net shows:

“Status: No Malware Detected by External Scan.
Web Trust: Not Currently Blacklisted (10 Blacklists Checked) “

I think my site has the latest WP version but I was unable to check right now.

    Any pointer?

    Thanks.

    Aris

Thanks for the reply. Actually I used the emergency.php from that site but it was not working.

I’m looking the possibility to try this one,
https://kuttler.eu/code/wordpress-password-reset/ but still don’t know how to find the must use plugins to place the script there after adding my username, new password and my IP.

    Any suggestion?

    Thanks,

    Aris/

There are other ways to reset your password in the link above.

Again. Thank you. I have tried the ones that I was able to do from the link, but so far it has failed. Not sure why this happened?

So you did FTp and the database method?

I am using Thesis 1.85, and I was wondering do I need to add the line to the functions.php or custom_functions.php? I tried the custom_functions.php and it shows the same result as the other methods I have tried.

Now I’m going to try the functions.php.

Also, is it normal that once you put in your password when you login, you got the following redirect?

    https://www.atanone.net/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.atanone.net%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1

I didn’t see that on my other blog, after I filled the username and password.

I tried to add the line in the beginning of functions.php, but still got the same result.

I did the Lost Password request, it allowed me to change the new password using the link provided, but as soon as I use the new password, the page got redirected.

    I just wonder why?

I tried emergency.php and again, got send to the redirect page above.

your active theme’s functions.php file. That redirect is normal.

I tried PhpmyAdmin, didn’t work either. I select different database from the list for my other blog, did the change following the steps described in the WP page listed above, the password change worked for the other blog, but not for the one in question. ??

I am out of ideas. Each of those solutions is sound.

Could it be the file that handle the login has been altered and pointing to the redirect line all the time? Is that the wp-admin.php file?

The problem has been resolved. The culprit was the size of the database. I have overused it and the login stop to function. Once they switch to another database with a maximum size of 1GB instead of 100 MB like the old database, everything works fine.

Thanks KMessinger for all your help.
