Can’t access network admin

    Thanks in advance for any help you are able to offer.

    I set up my multisite network in early 2017 and it was a completely clean install – I’d never used WordPress before and was moving content from blogs on Blogger. I have four sites within the network – three only I use, all created before I put any content on the sites at all, and one created in November 2017 for my partner.

    I read several tutorials and followed the advice to set up a second user for the two sites that are blogs I update reguarly – an editor. I log into the editor account frequently and the super admin account very rarely – normally only when WordPress has updated and I want to update plugins.

    Before today, the last time I logged in to my super admin account was probably November, when I updated the plugins, set up the site for my partner, and installed a plugin he wanted. He’s the primary user on this site, and I found another post where they’d caused this problem by trying to add a super admin via wp-cli, but I didn’t do that, I set him up an administrator just for that site via the Network Admin.

    I have no idea whether this is relevant, but I had to reset my password in order to log in to my super admin account. The password I’d last used wasn’t working at all.

    Then, when I had logged in, I found I couldn’t access the network admin at all. I’ve tried going to mysite.com/wp-admin/network and all I get is: ‘Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.’

    I’ve checked the admin_email and site_admins in wp_sitemeta using phpMyAdmin as suggested in posts I’ve seen elsewhere and also tried disabling all the active_sitewide_plugins, which had no effect.

    I’ve done the basic stuff – clearing the site cache, deleting cookies. I read about the bug in 4.9.3, so I used the WordPress Tools in Bluehost to update the site to 4.9.4. None of these have worked.

    If you have any more suggestions I would really appreciate them!

    Having the same problem – Cannot access my Network admin page. Each time I select the Dashboard of the Network Admin site, i get redirected to the following site: https://library.tmc.edu/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.library.tmc.edu%2Fwp-admin%2Fnetwork%2F&reauth=1
    my username and password fails to work.

    Please help!!

    Yes Jackie – I am having problems accessing my Network Admin Page on my multisite domain.
    As I said in my previous post, each time I select the Network admin dashboard, it takes me to another login screen but I am not able to login. The url is: library.tmc.edu

Click on the forum where you wish to create a new topic, (in this case it’s ‘Netwrking WordPress’, but if it has to do w/something else, then by all means choose the applicable forum), &, once in the right forum, click the ‘Create Topic’ link.     Network admin is inaccessible – Need Help

    Cannot Access Network Admin Dashboard. In fact, none of the other admin accounts can. each time we receive an error. I need your help ASAP.

    This is a issue related to the permissions of your public folder. Let me help ya lads ??

    • Login to your cPanel and go to your WWW folder
    • Right click on WP-ADMIN & change permissions to 7-5-5
    • Open WP-ADMIN folder & RIGHT CLICK on “network” – change permissions to 7-5-5
    • Open folder “network” & select all files > Right click and change permissions to 6-4-4

      • Clear your browser CACHE, HISTORY, COOKIE – restart browser and problem solved!

    Same thing happen to me. I created a www.ads-software.com and could not see my dashboard.

    I don’t believe that I set up an admin page. Was i suppose to because I can’t see my dashboard.

    Bro… Do this and the problem will be solved!

    1. Login to your cPanel and go to your WWW folder
    2. Right click on WP-ADMIN & change permissions to 7-5-5
    3. Open WP-ADMIN folder & RIGHT CLICK on “network” – change permissions to 7-5-5
    4. Open folder “network” & select all files > Right click and change permissions to 6-4-4
    5. Clear your browser CACHE, HISTORY, COOKIE – restart browser and problem solved!

    The issue for me was not mentioned here, but the thread helped me find it:

    It probably happened when the server crashed while I was working on the site.

    I had this same issue and nothing I tried helped. I was already set as the super admin, but i was not able to access the network admin, and the “My sites” menu was not showing.

    But I finally figured out the solution (at least for me)! Hope this helps somebody else in the future! (p.s. I’m running WP 5.2.2).

    Firstly, follow all the steps to set up multisite (i.e. add the WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE define to your wp-config.php file, and follow all the steps to set up the network).

    Then, when you edit wp-config.php the second time – when the installer tells you to update your wp-config.php file with a bunch of multisite-related includes – at this point remove the define for WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE!

    So you should still have the new defines, including:
    define('MULTISITE', true);

    But REMOVE this line:
    define('WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE', true);

    Once I did that, I logged back in and suddenly the “My sites” menu appeared!
