• I’m trying to reset my Permalinks structure after running into performance problems and “Out of memory” errors in a site with a lot of pages.

(Changing for now from /%postname%/ to /%post_id%/%postname%/ … I know this will no longer be an issue in WordPress 3.3 in another month.)

I can’t open Settings > Permalinks to make this change. WordPress hangs, with a “Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 46923776) (tried to allocate 3318522 bytes)…”

How can I get in to change Permalinks?

After a lot of searching, I found a way to change the permalink structure from outside of the Dashboard.

It can be set using the RepairBuddy portion of the (commercial) BackupBuddy plugin.
