• I worked through the MultiSite installation successfully. Wildcard sub-domains are enabled, i.e., there is a ServerAlias and a DNS A record for the primary domain and the database tables were created properly. I also have BuddyPress 1.2.7 installed, am using the default BP theme and have s2Member installed too (Membership only + Open Registration).

However, when I register a new user and then try to access that username as ‘username.domain.com’ I am redirected to the main domain.com site. I thought that ‘username.domain.com’ would be available immediately.

When looking at Super Admin >> Sites there is only 1 row for the domain, ‘domain.com’, but with the admin and testusers under the ‘Users’ column.

Did I miss a configuration setting somewhere? or am I supposed to manually add the sub-domains associated with each user?

    Thanks in advance.

Did you set up your site so that a new blog is created when a user is? Cause that’s an option ??

    Ipstenu,
Where would I enable that? Is that the only way a sub-domain will be created automatically?

Is it possible to permit the creation of the sub-domain, but never allow the addition of users or other blogs to that account?

Bascially, I want to have open/paid registration that entitles everybody to have a sub-domain that is created on account creation.

If a new blog on account creation is not necessary, can I still enable other plugins without enabling a personal blog?

    Thanks.

Under network options is a section for ‘Registration Settings’ Now please note those options.

There is NOT one that says ‘create a new user AND subdomain’, but there IS one that says ‘Both sites and user accounts can be registered.’

You want that to be checked.
