I want to purchase the custom design upgrade, but I can’t get to it. I keep reading things that say it’s under Appearance in Dashboard, but it’s not. Not in mine anyway. Does anyone know what the problem is?

The custom design upgrade is available for the hosted WordPress.com version, not self-hosted installs. If you’re using WordPress.com, you might want to try their forums instead: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/

Hi, I think I have the self-hosted version, as I purchased through Go Daddy. Does this mean there is no way for me to purchase Custom Design? Is there any alternative to allow me to easily change fonts?

There is no such thing as a “Custom Design” to purchase for self-hosted WordPress. That is an add-on available for WordPress.COM.

You can install any theme from:

The free theme directory: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/themes/
Commercial theme Vendors: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/themes/commercial/

Its best to not search on google or other search engines for free themes if you don’t yet know who’s trustworthy in the WordPress community as there are some untrustworthy sources about.

Some themes include google webfonts as standard, but it isn’t difficult to add them, there’s a plugin which makes it easier: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wp-google-fonts/
