• Hello, I recently ran into a problem when trying out a new theme. After installing the new theme, the blog couldn’t be accessed. So I backed up my database, re-installed wordpress, and then installed only the posts, pages and comments sections of the database. The blog can now be read, but you can’t access the dashboard. When I log in, I am just taken back to the home page. Any ideas?

    My blog is thethriftynation.com

    Please help!

  • You need to restore the full database then switch to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

When I restored the full database, I could not find any themes other than twnty ten. I do think that I may have accidentally deleted the other theme files when I was looking at files, trying to figure out what happened.

I did find a row in wp_options that shows:

    _site_transient_timout_theme_roots
and it shows an option value of 1302142522. Should that be there? Any other ideas?

    thanks!

Also, when I try to access my admin dashboard, I can log in but it takes me to what lookes like the home page with the admin taskbar but has the url of :
    https://thethriftynation.com/?s=admin

When I click on the dashboard or new post, I am just taken back to this page.

    I hope this helps

    Alex
