• Hi,

I’ve done an upgrade from WP 3.1.4 to WP 3.4.1. The automatic upgrade wasn’t working, so I did it manually following the instructions from this site.
The site is working, but I can’t log in to the dashboard, so I can’t post any new stuff, I can’t activate my plugins, etc.
When I try to login with my user and pass, I get the following message:

    Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/upgrade.php on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Thanks in advance for helping me!

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

This is such a pain — I dread any WP updates. Something gets screwed up every time.
