• I’m trying to fix some details on my step-mother’s personal website. She had someone make it for her a couple of years ago, It’s hosted on HostGator, and when I log in it says there’s no WordPress instance connected to the account, but when I access the HostGator file manager, cPanel, the site is clearly WordPress as the directory structure is that of a WordPress site.

So I’m left with no way to use the WordPress Visual Editor to make the changes. How could this have happened and what can I do to fix it? I’m imagining whoever built the site just manually uploaded the files to the HostGator account without actually connecting it to the WordPress account. Is that possible?

The way I see it, the only way I can make changes to the blurbs on her website is to directly edit the html files inside the cPanel file manager, which I’ll do if I have to, but I don’t feel comfortable enough with WordPress to change images that way, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
