• I cannot access the wp-admin login page for the main page of a website that I was recently asked to help update. I can access the login screen for two subsites, but not the main site (initial page). I think I probably have the login credentials, but I just can get the login page for it. How do I find this?

  • What is the URL? Is this a multisite install?

    The login is typically URL/wp-login.php

The site is https://www.c3naples.org and I’ve tried adding the wp-login.php afterwards along with wp-admin and so forth. I can get to the login page if I start at one of the subsites (for instance: https://www.c3naples.org/traditional/wp-admin)…..but I need to modify the main page and currently don’t seem to know how to access it.

It looks like that first page is a static HTML page – and that the two WP sites are installed in sub-directories of the server. Do you have FTP access to the server – that’s how you’d need to access that first page.

The only other possibility is that the WP site(s) might be using a “splash” page plugin – you can look under plugins for that.

It’s definitely not a plugin….I do have ftp access to the server….but not exactly sure which file I am looking for (to access the splash page)

I really don’t know for sure, but look at whatever files are in the root level – i.e.

I found an index.html file which looks to be my problem. Since I don’t know anything about editing html, I would like to simply move these two subsites underneath a new “mainsite”. Is that possible?

What are you wanting to change on that page?

The other is possible but might be overkill.

The two subsites have a lot of common items such as calendar, staff, etc. I would like that common info on the first site and then if people want more info about the traditional or contemporary site they could then go there

I downloaded a plug-in and don’t remember its name well, then after my usual hours I was done so I logged out and then I tried logging in again and then it said wrong username and password. If you really want to test it, make an account on my site and tried logging in, it won’t.
