Can’t activate a module in settings

Hello, after the recent malicious attack on my site because of WP Private Content Plus. I followed their steps to cleaning up my site which was successful but now after downloading the new WP Private Content Plus plugin from WordPress plugin resipository. Upon navigating to settings, I try to activate a module (by clicking on the checkbox and then press save changes) but when I click on save changes, the checkbox is automatically unchecked i.e returns back to its default settings. This is happening in my websites that I installed the WP Private Content Plus but then I replicated this same procedure on locally hosted website (Using MAMP) it worked perfectly. Please how can I resolve this as all websites I installed the WP Private Content Plus is doing exactly the same thing.
