    After updating, I am unable to enable the Firewall due to a series of errors, seen below (I edited out the sitename). When I click on the “ENABLE FIREWALL” button in WordFence/Firewall, nothing appears. The page just reloads. And the Firewall is still deactivated. Also, the Blocking tab is empty. The config.php file is not in the location specified. As another post suggested, I tried deleting the wflogs folder to get it to recreate it, but nothing changed. Thanks in advance.

  • Hi @cmcqueen,

    On the “Tools –> Diagnostics” page does any of the section show errors? (In particular the Filesystem and Wordfence Config sections)

    I am also having this problem, although I have no errors showing anywhere. I click the “Enable firewall” button, it opens the same page in another browser tab and… nothing ??

    These issues appear under the “Filesystem” heading on that page:

    Checking if web server can read from ~/wp-content/wflogs
    File “config.php” is unreadable
    Checking if web server can write to ~/wp-content/wflogs
    File “config.php” is unwritable

    I mentioned above that the config.php file is missing from that location. Using FTP to navigate to that folder, I do not see config.php there.

    Same issue here, when you click the “Enable Firewall” it just opens a new tab to the same page.

    Very similar error message shown as well.

    Checked diagnostic tools and everything is green and OK?

    @wfyann any update on this?

    Personally, after WF upgraded itself to 7.0.2 yesterday, I had a text appearing at the top of the dashboard page saying:

    “The Wordfence Web Application Firewall cannot run. The configuration files are corrupt or inaccessible by the web server, which is preventing the WAF from functioning. Please verify the web server has permission to access the configuration files. You may also try to rebuild the configuration file by clicking here. It will automatically resume normal operation when it is fixed.”

    I backed everything up, clicked the link and it seems to have fixed the problem. Firewall and scanning are now enabled.

    Happy camper.

    BTW guys, it would be nice if we could see the version # at the top of the dashboard page like before. It would prevent useless clicks to find it in the Extensions page. Just a thought.

    Thanks Natmark, the message you mentioned was not there for me a couple days ago when I posted in here about my issues. But it was there today and clicked the link to rebuild the config file which fixed the issue for me as well. And my firewall is now in learning mode again.
