    I am a WP noob ??

I want to add images to my posts (version 2.6.2) when I click the ‘Add an image’ tab the screen goes grey, it shows a loading bar and then it opens a window showing:

Are you sure you want to do this?

    Please try again.

When I click ‘please try again’ is loads the wp admin dashboard again within that window.

I have tried dragging and dropping an image into the window and all is does then is show the image in a window with the url as the C drive.

Why is this so difficult to do? I thought WP was supposed to be user friendly….

    ??

Sounds like you’re missing the javascript files or are having cache problems or something else. Try another computer or another browser, see if that works. If it does, then look at the original computer and disable whatever software is preventing it from working correctly. If the other PC has the same issues, then make sure all the files are uploaded to your site correctly and have the correct file permissions (644 for files, 755 for directories).

WordPress is user-friendly, but it’s not WordPress that is broken. Your site itself is broken, and you need to focus on figuring out why.

Just checked the files and directories all were 644/755.

Same problem in FireFox (I use Chrome).

No option to try another PC right now.

    Any other options/ideas?

Well, something is preventing the javascript from loading and running properly. Got any “privacy” software running on that computer?

AVG virus scan and Sygate Personal Firewall, just disabled them both (leaving me open) and still have the same problem….

    No more solutions?

What about deleting or re-installing some files? I am terrified of doing this though in case I lose everything ??

If you’re hosting it yourself, I would perhaps check that the path is correct in Settings/Miscellaneous? I had problems recently uploading images after moving one of my sites to a different host – this turned out to be the issue.. Just an idea..

Was this ever solved? I am having the same issue. I have installed over a dozen blogs since Christmas and this is the first one that I am getting the error on. I think it is because I imported the posts and media from a previous blog – we were just moving the blog to a new server.
When we go to add an image or media to a post or page, we get the pop up window that says: Are you sure you want to do this?

    Please try again.

When I click ‘please try again’ is loads the wp admin dashboard again within that window.

When I go to the media tab and upload an image directly that way, I don’t get this issue.

“I think it is because I imported the posts and media from a previous blog – we were just moving the blog to a new server.”

That’s exactly what i’m doing and i’m getting this same error.

I’m having the same issue, but this is a brand new install. I’ve installed over a dozen WordPress blogs, most on the same server as this one, but all are older versions (this one is 2.7.1). Never had this problem with the older versions.

I’ve tried a different browser (FF3 & IE7), I’ve tried a different machine. I’ve checked miscellaneous settings. Folders have been chmod 777. I have re-uploaded ALL the WordPress files. I’ve verified that Flash 10 is installed.

This sure seems like a WordPress problem to me.

I could upload the pics via FTP and then type out the URL path, but it doesn’t seem like I should have to.

So this issue just gets sucked into a giant vacuum, never to be heard from again?

Looks like downgrading to 2.5 is going to be my solution. Pretty frustrating.

I had the same problem. I tried reloading version 9 of flash, uploading a patched version of the swf files, reloaded all the wp-admin and wp-include files.

None of this worked for me. But what did work was uninstalling the complete vbridge plugin. It was conflicting with the image uploader on the posts page, for some reason.

I’ve up graded to WordPress 2.8.4. Then deactivated all plugins. The image loader now works. I then activated each plugin, one by one, testing the image loader as I went. I found the affecting plugin, deactivated it as instructed and removed it from my directories. Now I just need to find a Classified Ads plugin replacement.
    Any suggestions?
