Can’t add any text to pages/posts

  • Hi all,

    Just installed WP on a brand new site, and running into some problems I haven’t seen before on my previous blogs.

    The main problem is I can’t actually add any text to pages or posts, so I can’t even get started with the site.

    It’s very weird, when I click on the main body of the page/post to start adding text, it’s just locked or blocked out so I can’t even begin to post. Like it’s some kind of code/java problem, but I’ve no idea how to fix.

    Anyone any idea on how to fix?
    For context as well, here are some other errors I’ve got that I haven’t seen before that may be connected somehow:

    1. Can’t set up GA Monsterinsights plugin, just gives me an “oops there was an error loading your site details” error
    2. Avatars small pics graphics all not loading within interface either. Just that weird graphics thing we used to get on the older web when a picture didn’t load in their place. I don’t think pics are loading in the main site either.

    Are all these errors combined pointing to something specific, like a code/javscript problem? Any help appreciated

    Is there anything about your new site that’s different from the previous ones? For example, are you on a new host?

    You should first try reinstalling WordPress and see if that solves it.

    Hi, thanks for messaging, no it’s a weird one, nothing different that I can see. Same host, same plugins I’ve always used. Also even the same browser I’ve used on my other sites but I don’t have this problem on them; only on this new one.

    I got onto my host support, and changing browsers gets rid of it for a while, but then it comes back again. Got that weird image thing again today, thumbnails/avatars not loading, plus monsterinsights dash not loading again specifically on one browser, plus featured images not displayig once loading on one particuklar browser (but other blogs on same host/same everything work fine on that browser – very weird).

    I’m not an expert, but to me, this seems to be pointing to some kind of code issue – is it javascript or some other code that’s responsible for “pulling” images up and displaying them?

    Yes, reinstall WP is a good idea, that shouldn’t delete existing content, right?

    Yes, you can reinstall from your dashboard without losing your content. Navigate to Updates and click the “Reinstall” button.

    You can also try using the free Health Check plugin. When you go into troubleshooting mode, you may be able to find the source of the problem.
