• Every now and then, I re-use some images. My understanding is that now (since 3.0) you could re-use images that were uploaded to the Media Library, but attached to another post (ie. not the one that I’m editing). For some reason, when I go to “Add media” and “From Media Library” it says that I have 200 odd images, but nothing shows up. Searching doesn’t return anything.

I can go to the Media library and they are there. I can go to the post that they are attached to, and they are in the “Gallery”.

Any idea why I can’t do this?

  • Try installing the Hotfix plugin:

    Didn’t fix it.

Do you have to do anything besides install the plugin? It doesn’t look like it creates any menu options or anything.

It’s been an issue for me since 3.0…but I’m not sure why.

    You did activate it, right?

Are you actually running 3.2? Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress 3.2.

    – increasing the memory available to PHP:

    @esmi:

You’re right, I selected 3.2 by mistake. I just updated yesterday to 3.1.4.

I’m working on a live site, so I’ll have to dupe it and set up a local environment to try that stuff. Could potentially be a big issue on the site I’m working on.

I’ll let you know if I make any progess.

@kmessinger: Thanks for the vote of confidence.

    Just speaking from experience :^)

Maybe in a slow time for hits you could put a maintenace message up and do the testing. It doesn’t take very long.
