Having some major issues with my shop:

1) Items can’t be added to the card from the main shop page (see link) or archives – only from the individual product page. The error looks like a spinning cog on the add to cart button.
2) When customers go to check out, the Payment section freezes with a spinning wheel.

Last week I added two plugins (WC Cancel Order and Add Items To Order) – I’ve now deactivated and deleted them, but the problem persists. I haven’t added any other plugins lately.

All plugins and wordpress are up to date.

Help! This is my livelihood!

When I view you shop page and use the Browser Developer Tools to view the console log, I see quite a few errors. When I click on the add to cart button, several more populate. I would try using a default theme like Twenty Seventeen or Storefront to see if that helps. If it does, then there is a conflict with your theme. If not, then I would start troubleshooting by deactivating the other plugins and testing again, if that helps, re-enable one plugin at a time until the issue returns.

As far as the payment page, I would try the same test.

Could you tell me more about the errors you’re seeing, and what they mean? I don’t understand.

Meanwhile I changed to TwentySeventeen, deactivated all plugins, cleared cache – no improvement.

BUT: when I manually type in the https prefix – it works. When I don’t type it in manually the site defaults to http and nothing works.

So it’s an issue with that. I’m going to try plugins to replace all the URLs. I bought an SSL certificate ages ago and thought security was taken care of – it’s weird that it should suddenly break just now.

Is this a common issue, is there anything else you suggest I can do?

Have you since fixed this? As when I go to https://littleredtarot.com/shop, it is securely taking me to https://littleredtarot.com/shop now and I’m not experiencing any spinning wheels as mentioned before:

Yes, after the tedious task of changing themes and going through every single plugin, it transpired that that was the issue all along – I’d purchased an SSL cert months ago but didn’t realise I had to follow through with URL updating to actually make it work!

I used the Really Simple SSL plugin to force URLs through https and that sorted it.
