I have a CPT and a Taxonomy. In the edit post box from the CPT there is no dropbox with Taxonomy’s. There is only a textfield where I can type the first letters of the category and then it shows. Is there a way to change this to a checkbox list?

Found the solution : set to hierarchical. Don’t understand why this is, but it works. Maybe anyone could explain this?

It’s how WordPress core differentiates between what I call “category style” with the checkboxes and nested visual hierarchy vs “tag style” which is just the auto-suggest input that you can quickly add a bunch of terms to. Categories are hierarchical, meaning they can have the parent/child relationships. Tags are not, they just exist alongside each other. Thus, setting your taxonomy to hierarchical is the correct thing to do to get the similar behavior.
