  • Having the same issue

Same problem. I have two separate WP installations on different sites, and the icons work on one, but not the other.

I’m not sure exactly what was going on with the icons in the various reports, but I released a fix in 2.5.4 that is icons related that may or may not fix the issue for you.

I’m having the exact same icon problem since the new version 2.5.5.
Older series posts have now no icon attached, but still are showing an invalid reference to wp-content-uploads folder.

Hi AndreasPils, sorry about that. Turns out the fix I released in 2.5.5 for series icon introduced another problem with series icon links. I just released 2.5.6 that should squash those issues completely now.

    Hi Darren,
sorry to say, but also 2.5.6 does not improve the icon situation, at least not for me. Broken links will stay broken, a new loaded icon shows fine in the manage series backend, but does not show up in the relevant post. As said, as soon as you hit the update buttom for a new uploaded icon, it vanishes and “No icon currently” is displayed on the “Edit Series” page.

This sounds like a different issue than what I’ve been fixing then in that the image is never getting saved to the database. It’s possible there’s a conflict with another plugin that interacts with the old WP media uploader. If you look in your database, there should be an orgseriesicons (with the appropriate prefix for your database, usually wp_orgseriesicons) table. Do you have that table in your database? Are there entries in it?

Where the icon _is_ normally displayed, what is the url structure to the icon?

    Hello Darren,
sorry for getting back late as I thought I’ll get an e-mail notification when someone posts in this thread, but this isn’t the case.
Anyhow, to answer your questions. Yes I have that table in my database and it currently holds two icons. These two icons are also shown in my wp-backend under “manage series” but are not shown in the relevant series posts in the frontend. I have deleted all other icons, since I’d wanted to get rid of the ugly broken link display in the frontend.

The path for the two icons in the database is now:
    blog/wp-content/upLoads/2017/03/xyz.png

Hope this helps to get to the bottom of the issue.
Many thanks for your kind help in advance.

okay so from your path that gets saved then, I’m assuming you are on a WordPress install where WordPress is installed in a subdirectory (labelled blog), is this correct?

    Hi Darren,
yes this is correct. It has been this way from scratch and Organize Series used to work without any problems.

    Many thanks

    Hi Darren,
so 4 weeks down the road, the problem still exists. I cannot set Icons to all of my 8 different series. Are you about to fix the issue in the next release?
What more can I do to help that this is fixed?

    Many thanks

Andreas I understand how you may be frustrated by this issue. Unfortunately, I have to prioritize my time on things that help bring income for me and my family. As this is an edge-case bug I haven’t had the time (yet) to investigate further.

I can’t give any eta on when this would get fixed and completely understand if that means you must find another plugin that does what you need to do.
