Can't add slides

I’ve just installed the photomedia theme with piecemaker slideshow. Assets upload fine but when i press ‘add slides’ then ‘add asset to slide’ i get a new asset screen without any options and this grey message: “Please specify the page of type, if you don’t know which type to choose please see the help file”
Really frustrating that i can’t get this to work. Any suggestion would be really welcome.
