Hi – we have a couple of issues happening on our site. The main issue is that we can’t advance the calendar (currently being displayed on https://www.anandathousandoaks.org/calendar/ because of issue below) beyond the current month (either with the arrows or the month dropdown). I tried deactivating all of the non-Events Calendar plug-ins. After reactivating everything, I then changed the minify settings per the Events Calendar recommendations for W3 Total Cache on this page. When that didn’t help, I then deactivated the W3 total Cache plug-in. I also changed the permalinks, as that has helped in the past. That didn’t change anything.

Another (possibly related issue) is that our https://www.anandathousandoaks.org/events/ page no longer works to display the calendar. It gives the message “There has been a critical error on this website.” and has <!DOCTYPE html> in the page tab.

I am grateful for any suggestions.

    Hi @wavewatcher ,

Thank you for your message and the information.

Have you tried enabling WordPress debugging to see if any errors are thrown out in the debug log that can help us out in identifying the issue here?

Hi Tristan – I haven’t used a debugger before. I just installed WP Debugger and ran it. Here is what it came up with:

    Hi @wavewatcher

    Thanks for your response.

I successfully replicated the error message you encountered when attempting to access your calendar. This issue may be related to insufficient memory resources. Have you had a chance to contact your hosting provider to discuss the possibility of increasing the memory allocation? Doing so could potentially resolve the problem you’re experiencing.

If it doesn’t help, please try using a default theme like Twenty-twenty one theme, and see if that makes a difference. I recommend doing this on a staging version of your website to avoid unnecessary downtime to your live site.

Let me know how it goes.

I just increased the PHP memory from 512 to 768 and that seems to have resolved the issue around advancing the calendar.

Do you have any idea what may have caused this? I noticed we have events going back to 2018 (373 events total). Could this be part of them problem?

I want to try to keep from getting into this situation again. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Hi @wavewatcher

That could be one of the reasons, or it might be due to a function in a plugin or theme consuming a significant amount of memory, which could be causing the issue.

In the meantime, I recommend checking out our knowledge base article for suggestions on resolving this:
