I added Wordfence 10 days ago to one of my websites. I noticed yesterday was super slow sometimes pages didn’t load and an Error message showed. This morning was worse; I downloaded the server error logs and they were all:
mod_fcgid: can't apply process slot for

Once I got a page to load I deactivated Wordfence and the errors stopped.
Is there something I need to do on the server (Network Solutions?)

    thanks!

  • Hey @delawaregrad,

It seems the Apache FcgidMaxProcesses or FcgidMaxProcessesPerClass limit has been reached. Can you please ask your host if they can increase them for you?

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald

The hosting company didn’t provide the technical information needed, aside from suggesting that I change hosting packages. I had to request a PHP upgrade last year because you aren’t able to access that area (no cpanel). The site is 10 years old, so it may be outdated hosting (similar to what I’ve encountered at GoDaddy where you have so many issues there’s no choice but to change packages).

Your response makes sense to me. I’ll let you know if I need further assistance. thanks!
