can’t attach images to post – please help. i’ve never had this problem before!

    my gallery link (camera) icon in POSTS has suddenly disappeared.
    what do i mean?
    when creating a new post, in the box area below the kitchen sink, instead of featuring a camera icon which i would normally click on to upload images, the whole box area is blank. bizarre?

    i am still able to upload images to the gallery using either the ADD MEDIA or ADD IMAGE icon. and the images themselves are visible in the gallery library, so i know they are there. it’s just that the link to the gallery is broken. here is a link illustrating the problem:

    the second gallery DAVID & TROY actually has 22 images, though none are showing. For some reason, the images are not attached to the post. i have never encountered this problem before.

    i have been working on this problem for three days now and am on the verge of giving up on wordpress altogether. i absolute LOVE wordpress. before i came to WP, i knew very little about websites, though WP has really opened my eyes to so many possibilities, though this problem has really stumped me.
    i have sought advice on the wordpress support forums and none of the fixes have worked for me. i have deactivated ALL the plugins, without any joy. i have upgraded to 2.7 and still it is not working.
    in miscellaneous settings, ‘store uploads in this folder’ is set to wp-content/uploads

    my browser is firefox.

    i use a mac osx 10.5.7.

    i have tried using a different machine to see if perhaps the problem is with this mac, but i get the same problem.

    and before you ask, in my miscellaneous settings, the uploading files are set to wp-content/uploads

    please please PLEASE help me. i am desperate to solve the issue. thank you so much in advance.

    yup, i tried a different browser. still broken.

    did you try adding the [galler] tag?
    i thought it was a firefox crashing related during the upload of media.

    the blank pic was june 6, but then you have a pic at june 8?
    did you just set the date? or you can able to upload last june 8 but not last june 6?

    I get a similar issue… I can upload and insert images fine, but if I want to use an image I’ve uploaded in the past (by going to the gallery), the “show” option doesn’t do anything… All it does is movie the webpage up or down by an inch or so in the background.

    i still can’t get to the bottom of this issue.
    it’s utterly bizarre.
    nazcar, to answer your question, it doesn’t matter when i uploaded the image, whether its june 6 or june 8, the problem is still the same.
    i thought maybe the problem would be resolved by upgrading to 2.8.
    nope!
    i officially give up.

    I’m running into this problem as well, and seem to have stumbled through a workaround. For reference, I’m using 2.8.1.

    1. Add new post.
    2. Manually type in [gallery] into post form.
    3. Save draft.
    4. Upload pictures.
    5. Save all changes.
    6. Now you should see the option to insert the gallery into the post.
    7. Insert into post.
    8. Delete the second [gallery] that appears in the post form.

    It’s a pretty condensed list, but I think you get the idea that using the [gallery] shortcode seems to convince WP that you really want to attach the images to the post.
