  • 5.4.2 loaded. No changes…

Just updated the plugin to 5.4.2–no change whatsoever. Problem still exists. Tried with both Firefox and Chrome. However, manually entering the UA code now works. This doesn’t solve the real problem of course but it’s a step in the right direction.

One thing I’ve noticed though (without manually the UA code) is that data still appears to be sending to my GA page despite the fact that the plugin appears to not be working. The analytics data for both my sites is there for the 21st of April even though the plugin stopped working yesterday morning (supposedly) with the update to 5.4.1.

@kirkm, your situation is the same as mine. Google Analytics says it is receiving the data, which means I guess Google and the plugin are communicating, which is good. Just can’t get the data on my end.

Hi, I’m having the same issues as well with authenticating on multiple sites.
I can’t authenticate or add the code manually.

    Google Analytics by Yoast 5.4.2
Chrome, Version 42.0.2311.90 m, also tried in incognitio mode
    Firefox 37.0.2
    Wordpress 4.1.2

Anyway, I understand that the update to 5.4.2 did not address the “can’t authenticate” issue, or am I wrong?

    Bugfixes:
Fixes a bug where our link tracking broke the content in case of multiline links.
Fixes a bug where it was no longer possible to dismiss the i18n module.

(Still can’t authenticate, except by manually entering code).

Same goes for me. Authenticate pops up the connection to Google, and I copy-and-paste my code and save. No popup for my sites as before.

This plugin has an ongoing problem with “forgetting” its analytics settings. I hope you find a fix for us!

    Thanks,
    Dale

    Hi,

I am also having the issue. When I click the Authenticate button, the window opens, and I get the authentication code. I enter it and click save, but it doesn’t actually stay saved. If I go to the dashboard, my reports aren’t there and I get a message that I need to update the settings.

Manually entering the UA code gets it working and tracking, but I liked having the reports right there.

    WP Version: 4.1.2
    Plugin Version: 5.4.2
I am using Chrome 42 on windows 7, and also tested in Firefox

    Thanks!

Same problem as everyone else, can’t authenticate. I am able to authenticate using the same method with a different WordPress analytics plugin so I know the account is setup properly.

Just retried this morning, and it works again. It seems the bug was fixed, good job Yoast team!

It seems to work with version 5.4.2.
However when I select my website from the dropdown the section ‘Current UA-profile’ gives me another number..

It does not show my UA-XXXXXXX profile number…

I tried the update 5.4.2, still the same problem.
    WordPress 4.1.2, Plugin Version 5.4.2, updated to Chrome 42.0.2311.90 (64-bit), PHP 5.3, Apache 2.2, MySQL 5.5.40… (on Mac OS X 10.9.5)

While writing this reply, I wrote “php_value memory_limit 16M” in my .htaccess-file, as suggested in a reference guide by a the hosting-provider (not directly aiming at this problem).

Suddenly I had succes with Firefox 35.0.1 (pop-up), and re-authenticating with Safari 7.1.5 (new tab) I see all the analytics now in all browsers (also in Chrome) but only with the ad-blockers switched-off / disabled.
Deleted the plugin again, tried everything in Chrome, and it worked like a charm (pop-up).

Note: I really do not know what exactly solved it, i’m not a hardcore developer. But i wanted to share this anyway.

    same problem

    version 5.4.2 fresh install
    wp. 4.1.2
    chrome win7

when I paste my GA code simply nothing happens

@macspresso: I got 512 MB memory.. Still not wokring.

@yoast: Also Google Tag Assistant in Chrome stays red after update.

Never had this many issues with GA by Yoast. Same problem here on the latest version (5.4.2): it will not authenticate. It seemed to appear to work today at one moment, and I was able to select my UA profile, but then once I saved it, the profile number truncated and changed entirely. Now it’s back to not showing up anymore and it says I have to authenticate again…

Just updated to WordPress 4.2. Uninstalled and reinstalled Yoast analytics plugin 5.4.2. Cleared cache and cookies.

    Still doesn’t work.
