  • @starhorsepax2 I agree that some feedback from Yoast would be nice, however you may need to manually remove some other elements from your database. Another user @mikko, made this suggestion which has worked for others.
I had to do this on one of my clients sites and there were 2 rows that required me remove data. Hope this helps.

    ***BACKUP YOUR DATABASE FIRST!!***

SQL query to find plugin’s options:
    SELECT * FROM wp_options WHERE option_name LIKE ‘%yst_ga%’

(Replace wp_ with your table prefix.)

You will need to delete all the database rows that come up in the results, then go and authenticate like normal.

    ***BACKUP YOUR DATABASE FIRST!!***

I tried that. I deleted the row (only one to come up) and it went as far as letting me click the accept button in the pop up. And then it redirected me to cpanel! It was weird….

I’m having the exact same issue as everyone here and it’s a month later. No response from Yoast. Contacted them only to be told I have to upgrade ($$) to get support.

Guess it’s a bait and switch?? Get the free plugin, it’s not working, have to upgrade.

    Yikes – Yoast, what’s up??

Same Problem. Uninstalled, reinstalled, disabled all plugins … nothing.

latest plugin and WP on a new site. UA works – but a no go with Google Authentication …

    Anyone heard any updates?

Same problem as all of the above, and I cannot mess with the underlying databases. Usually I trust stuff from Yoast, so I’m a little concerned about the developers’ silence. May have to try something else.

    Lots of posts here.

I have the same problem and I have to say I am surprised at the lack of help from Yoast. Maybe they are looking to push WordPress users to their paid version of the plugin where they provide customer support.

I downloaded the plugin, activated the plugin and followed the instructions to authenticate using my Google account.

The popup window opened asking me to accept “Google Analytics by Yoast would like to” etc and I clicked to accept.

    Then…….. Nothing.

    No Key.

Come on Yoast we need help!

Alright guys you will likely be grateful. Here is my solution:

DISABLE YOUR ADBLOCKER ON YOUR WEBSITE ## DISABLE YOUR ADBLOCKER ON YOUR WEBSITE ## DISABLE YOUR ADBLOCKER ON YOUR WEBSITE ## DISABLE YOUR ADBLOCKER ON YOUR WEBSITE ## DISABLE YOUR ADBLOCKER ON YOUR WEBSITE ## DISABLE YOUR ADBLOCKER ON YOUR WEBSITE

Hey that worked – thanks alusion!

@alusion – Can you refer me to a link on how to disable adblocker on my website?

I am a newbie trying to learn SEO and having the same difficulty everyone else is.

    Thanks alusion.

Well I am using Ad Block Plus as a plugin for Chrome. You should disable it for your domain.

That’s it. All the above solutions are not worth trying as this is the solution. I guess we’re all a bit dumb on this one. I figured it out myself after a month! ??

I had this exact problem using Firefox and none of the workarounds worked for me.

I finally went to Chrome, opened an incognito window, logged in to my client’s Google Analytics, logged into her site and voila! It finally worked.

    Hope this helps others!

None of the fixes proposed in the threads worked for me. So, I’ll be removing this and all the other plugin’s by Yoast on my site and I’ll not be using any of them, free or paid. Nor will any of my customers. The issue is obviously a plugin issue and if you can’t even get the free one to install, what does that say for the rest of his software?

And, while I understand that it’s not cost efficient to support free software, the utter silence on this issue tells me that they care more about the money than anything else and, in that case, they’ll not be getting any of my money for anything that they sell.

All Yoast plugins have been removed from my site and the sales that should have come from me seeing a superior product failed to materialize.

Well HALLELUJAH! I kept doing the authentication over and over and over (the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome, I know) but this last time – it worked! I didn’t do anything different. HOW WEIRD IS THAT!

Spent an hour going round and round with the above solution. Turns out that I hadn’t properly completed setting up account at Google Analytics. https://www.google.com/analytics/

    Derp.

Having same authenticate issues. Can’t believe no response from the developer. I always thought highly of Yoast. Tried all the workarounds and still nothing. Hope they release fix soon.
