About two years ago, I moved our two sites from FatCow to BlueHost. They are Divi sites and suffered on speed at BlueHost even though I tried multiple improvements and bought a couple of plugins to resolve it. I read about Siteground being recommended for Divi sites and read a couple of reviewers that it was a good option.
Two years ago, when I moved our sites from FatCow to Bluehost, I did everything manually, and it took me like a week because there were issues with the databases, etc. I was trying to smooth out the process this time.
I was afraid to touch our main site, so I used the Siteground transfer service as it was $30, which I totally think was worth it. With our second smaller site and less traffic, I didn't want to pay for the service, so I used this plugin.
The site is large, has many images, etc., so I installed the plugin on my old host WP site, then I went to Siteground, set up a new website, and selected site migration w/plugin. I received a token to add in the Migration plugin.
I started the transfer at night, not realizing it may take a bit. I had to leave the computer on as it was not finished when I went to bed. Of course, my computer fell asleep, so the process stopped. I thought I lost all the progress and will have to start from the beginning, but that was not the case, the progress was saved. I finished the rest in the morning.
The total time of transfer (1 GB) was a couple of hours. I received a confirmation that everything was completed, and I needed to point the DNS to Siteground servers. I did that and I went to my site to double-check it- nothing changed, lost, or crashed, which is a good thing. Even though I can figure out the problem, it does take me a bit as I don't do it often. However, that is a lot of time wasted, and I would rather spend that time on something more fruitful. I highly recommend this plugin. It did work for me on a large site and was very easy - even a beginner can follow the steps.
