When I get to the OAuth page and select the user, instead of getting ‘connected’ I get a

    403
    Forbidden

Access to this resource on the server is denied!

message instead of a connection to gmail smtp. I’ve tried to redo the setup several times and get stuck on this step.

Every thing LOOKS right as near as I can tell.

  • Hi @matthewgeier,

Thanks for reaching out. There could be some kind of firewall in your site that is filtering the requests from Google and causing a 403 error. Please follow this troubleshooting steps to identify the cause of the 403 error. You might want to check with your hosting provider to see if anything like mod_security is blocking.

    I hope this helps!

Hi @matthewgeier – We haven’t heard from you in about a week, so I’m going to go ahead and mark this ticket resolved. If you still have questions, though, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

No, It still doesn’t work, but I’ve been not able to follow through with the hosting provider. When I did get a chance to bring it up with my hosting provider, some one DDOS’s their data centre and every thing went down so my question to them didn’t get answered, they were more worried about the outage.
I’ll get back to them in a day or so.

Various things happened meant I never got back to following this up with my hosting provider to debug. But the latest update to the plugin solves whatever issue I was having. After an update to the allow URLs for the appID, the plugin authenticated with my Gsuite account and now appears to be all happy.
    Thanks.

    Hi @matthewgeier,

    that’s awesome!

In the latest version of our plugin we made some changes to the Google Authorization process used in our plugin and it should resolve issues like yours.
These issues were usually caused by mod_security or some WP security plugins.

I’m glad this change resolved your particular issue.

    Have a nice day!
