    Dear support,

    After the recent update to 4.9.4, Wordfence also automatically updated to latest version. In the past I was able (with the free version) to block IP addresses that spammed my site. Now I don’t see that option anymore, see image: https://imgur.com/a/enkOS

    Could you explain what happened: is it not free anymore, is there a bug in my back end access (therefore not showing the fields)?

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @vgvidscom,

    It is still possible to block a specific IP address; there are 2 options to do so:

    Option #1

    • Go to the “Wordfence –> Firewall” page
    • Click the “Blocking” tab
    • Select the “IP address” Block Type
    • Enter the IP address you wish to block as well as the “Block Reason”

    Option #2

    • Go to the “Wordfence –> Tools –> Live Traffic” page
    • Expand the entry corresponding to the problematic IP
    • Click the “Block IP button” (the address will then be listed on the aforementioned “Blocking” page

    Hi Wfyann,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

    Option 1: see the image, it does not show up for me after clicking IP address.

    Option 2: not working, since the list under blocking is not showing up.

    In the past I added IP’s which I wanted blocked as described under option 1.

    @vgvidscom,

    On the screenshot you provided, the IP Address “Block Type” doesn’t appear to be selected.

    In case you did select it but it remains ineffective, please check the browser console to see if there are any errors.

    Alternatively you could also temporarily switch to a default theme.

    Hi,

    I did select it. I will try the browser console option and let you know.

    Thanks.

    Do you have some advise?

    Hi @vgvidscom,

    In case you’re not already using one could you please try and (temporarily) switch to a default theme?

    Alternatively you could also disable all other plugins to check if there’s a conflict; to this purpose I recommend using the Health Check plugin.

    Hi Wfyann,

    Thank for the advise, the issue is the MyCRED plugin (badges, etc…). It does not function properly with the new update for Wordfence. So either MyCRED or Wordfence needs to bring out a new update to fix the issue. I need both plugins. I’ve send MyCRED a request to look at the situation.

    Kind regards,

    @vgvidscom,

    If one of the errors comes from “load-scripts.php“, that is because WordPress combines multiple scripts into a single request so admin pages load a little more quickly, but since multiple scripts are loaded at once, an error in one script can affect the others. You can prevent this, so that each script will load individually by adding this line of code to your wp-config.php file:

    define('CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false);

    Be sure to add it before the line that says: /* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

    This will either help show which script file is causing the conflict, or it may prevent the issue from happening. If you can find the cause of the conflict and fix it, you can remove this line from wp-config.php.

    Hi vgvidscom,
    Just wanted to add here that in testing I found that the culprit is the Statistics addon in MyCREDS. So you could just deactivate that addon for now. I don’t think this is something we are going to be able to fix on our end since the actual error is coming directly from the MyCREDS statistics addon.

    Hope you have a great rest of the week!

    Dear wfasa,

    Thank you for testing and the tip. Deactivating the statistics addon indeed works and will not affect my usage of myCRED to much. Untill myCRED responses to my ticket, this is a great interim solution.
