• We just had our entire website redesigned and updated to the newest version of WordPress with all new plugins as well. The developer accidentally put in the wrong email in the general settings tab of the website. I went to change it. An email was sent to the new email but it was never received. I tried it several times to no avail. We are using Contact Form 7 for people to contact us and need the new email to work.

I found this video to help get around the inability to change the admin email: https://youtu.be/BCb1JAVf7VE After making the changes suggested, we are now getting an error message when trying to send a test email. It says “There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.”

If it makes any difference, we’re using Elementor Pro (latest version)for website design. We are using Thrive Apprentice for the courses. Our email is through Zoho (free account). Everything worked on the site with the proper email before it was redesigned. Neither the developer nor my web host specialist can figure out what’s going on. Is there something simple we’re missing?

  • Hello. ??

There’s a chance that the problem isn’t with the site, but with the email server. You can test that by going to your site’s admin page and try resetting the password for a different user.

You don’t need to reset that person’s password. This is just a check to see that your web server can send email at all.

It’s not uncommon to have server settings get changed when a site is redesigned and if this is the case, you can work with your host to get them reset.

    Best Wishes!

Thanks for your response, Cate. We’ve already gone through that process. We think it might be a problem with our hosting company, Linode. The developers have never used Linode and may have missed something in the process. Prior to the new site, all emails worked properly on the old site.

I will forward your response to the hosting company and the developer. We CAN send emails to the proper email. We just can’t do it through the contact form.
