• Hello!
I’ve been trying to change the administration email for our website for the better part of a year. It allows me to submit the request to change the email but I’ve never gotten the confirmation email necessary to solidify the change. I’ve tried changing the email to my work email, and to a basic gmail account, and no confirmation emails come through. I tried setting up a SMTP because the internet told me that could help but I still can’t get the email to come through. I’m at my wits end trying to figure this out, and it only adds insult to injury that there’s not actually anyone at WordPress that you can contact. Please help!

  • Hey,
I am guessing you used a plugin to configure STMP, so did you use the test email function from the plugin to check if that configuration is working fine and send out a test email with a success message?

If you didn’t test then you should test it. If it throws the error, then fix your SMTP configuration if you have done anything wrong in the setup. if you’re sure that you using all the SMTP information correctly but still getting the issue, then you should contact the hosting support or mail provider support to verify if everything is ok in the DNS configuration for emails outgoing.

If test emails are showing success messages but you’re not receiving them then check the spam folder, if nothing is in spam, then wait 5-10 mins to recheck, there could be a delay in delivery from the server.

if all that doesn’t work then you can install an email logger plugin to check the email log to check if emails are going our or not and any issues with outgoing emails.

If you find that emails are not going out then check the php error logs

If you find that emails are going out but there are some issues in email delivery then ask hosting support or mail provider for help.

    Yeah, it’s flaky as heck.

First, cancel the request from settings->general in wp-admin.

Then, login to your HOSTING CONTROL PANEL, then find PHPMYADMIN. Look in the table “wp_options” for the row with the key “admin_email”. Edit that row and replace the email address there.
