can't change custom taxonomy slug?

hi chaps…

I am using a custom taxonomy in a wp theme I have created for a construction company… the issue I have is that I copy/pasted from the codex and the example was about books (or movies) and the rewrite slug they used was “genre” and I overlooked changing it.

Now the site is up and running but I’ve realised when drilling down the custom post types by taxonomy, the slug is still “genre” but when I change it, the links look correct, but there is nothing on the newly addressed page (and if I manually edit the URL and use “genre” it still works) so I’m assuming somewhere in the database I have to manually change something does that ring true?

PITA, will remember to get my slug right from the onset next time didn’t realise you couldn’t change it later ??

Any ideas?
