    Hi,

I want to change the date of some of my posts, but in the Posts section none of the “Edit” links under Publish work. Clicking on them does nothing.

I am getting a JavaScript error when loading the page. Object expected error on line 1791, on post.php, but don’t know if that’s related.

Deactivating all my plugins doesn’t help.

    I’m using WordPress 2.9.2.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Spencer.

  • Maybe it would help to do a fresh install because even if JS is disabled, your date edit function should still work.

Thanks Roy, I’ll give that a go.

When I upgraded, I just copied the files over the top… Is that the correct way to reinstall?

Typically you would follow Steps 7 and 8 of Upgrading WordPress Extended to delete and reupload the proper files in a manual upgrade.

Thanks guys, but the reinstallation didn’t work. ??

Anyone know if there’s a plugin or some SQL which I can run which can change the date for me?

You shouldn’t need to resort to alternatives. If this basic function doesn’t work, you need to resolve this problem instead of finding ways around it. This could stem to other future problems…

I know what you’re saying Roy, but I’m kind of stuck right now!

The rest of the site is working fine and to be honest, I’m not going to do much more to it than what’s already on there.

Well then if you absolutely must, you can always use a UI like phpMyAdmin and go to the wp_posts table click edit on the post you want to change and change the date from there (post_date).

Most hosting companies will have a UI for you to use to do what I just mentioned above.

    Thanks Roy.

Like you said, I should try and fix it properly so that the basic functions in the Admin area work – but if I can’t I’ll update the table directly.

    Thanks again for your help.

Was having problems with a plugin (PhotoSmash), so deleted and re-installed it… Suddenly, everything’s working again including changing the date on a post.

Strange, as I did try it while it was deactivated…

Thanks so much for your help Roy and Michael.

I was setting up a new installation of 2.9.2 and all was well… then suddenly half of the wp-admin interface wasn’t working… I can’t add tags or categories to posts, can’t drop and drag widgets, can’t change timestamp on posts or pages…

I got rid of ALL my plugins and tried all the default themes – nothing!
Is there a way to install 2.9.2 over an existing 2.9.2 installation? Should I just delete all the files and reinstall?
(The blog is new, and I have all the content…)

    Any advice?

I have the same problem of being unable to edit Published dates in either Firefox or Google Chrome, but it works in Internet Explorer 8. Is this really a plugin in issue? Or a browser issue?
