I have been running a wordpress based article directory for some months. Now when I derect my browser to the site I get: Forbidden
You don’t have permission to access /index.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I have looked up index.php on the server using FTP and found that index has no permissions at all.

I tried changing the permissions to 644 but am unable to chage it. I get the message: 550 Could not change perms on index.php: Permission denied

    I am using Filezilla FTP
Hope someone may be able to help me solve this problem. Look forward to any replys

  • This is something that your web host will have to help you with. Becuase the permissions have been removed from the file they will have to log in as the root user to be able to set the correct permissions again.

Also, check the rest of the files on the site and see if their permissions have changed. Hopefully they haven’t but it’s better to check at the same time.
