Cant change Permalink

    When I change my permalink to ‘Date and name based’ and then press update it changes back to the ‘default’ anybody know why this is happening?

    To do it from the admin the .htaccess file needs CHMOD 666 to update. Afterwards you should CHMOD 644 for security.

    I’m a little slow can you give me a step by step instructions

    1. chnage the permission (chmod) on the .htaccess file to 666
    2. perform the change/update in the WP admin panel (permalinks)
    3. change back the permissions to 644

    #1 and #3 should be performed via FTP
    #2 is done in WP admin

    Thanks for those tips, I did all that but it still wont let me change my permalink to ‘Date and name based’ although I am able to put use custom ‘%category%/%postname%/’ which is good it’s just kinda of bugging me I am not able to change it to ‘Date and name based’. Am I missing something?

    I found the problem. I have a firefox extention that blocks
    scripts, so I unblocked my site.
