    Hello,

I’m french so I’ll try to be as clear as possible. I haven’t found a solution anywhere, but I think I’m just not searching at the right place.

I bought a domain name at OVH, and installed wordpress through their “simplified installation”.

Everything is working just fine, I just want to change the url because right now it looks like https://potato.com/blog and I want it to be https://potato.com

BUT I can’t access wordpress’s files with my ftp client. I have also searched in my database, I see that some are there but not the ones I’m looking for (like index.php, wp-config, …)

How can I do this ?

    Thanks in advance.

  • First, there are no files in your database.

The files for a theme would be located in ../wp-content/theme/theme_name

It looks like you either have your blog installed in the sub-directory called BLOG or someone has set up your permalinks to always use the term /blog/ in the url.

You may want to take a look at these pages:

    EDIT
Ok I am just a huge idiot, I’m so sorry.
the directory was in another directory that I didn’t see. I’m such a moron.
Thank you very much for responding anyway !

    Hi !
Thank you for your message !
Ok I wasn’t clear at all, but thank you for understanding my question.
No, there are basically no wordpress files in any directory at all that I can access through my ftp.
Let me explain. On my ftp I have access to the html, css, js, …. files that I created (without wordpress), and that are hosted at potato.com
All the files that belong to the “blog” directory are not there.
I imagine that if I want the “blog” part to be at the root of my website, I need to move those files, but I can’t to that.
Am I totally wrong ? I feel like I’m completely misunderstanding everything. I’m lost !
