Can't check out item

    Weblibrarian 3.2.10.13
    Wordpress 4.5.1

    I’m stumped. We have 3000+ books in the system
    We have patrons in the system.

    In circulation desk I select my patron – I have a checkout button.

    I then search for a book for that patron to check out.

    The checkout button is gone. I can’t check it out.

    What am I missing?

    You need to find/select the book first, then select the patron. It is a bit of a quirk.

    OR if you know the book’s bar code or have a bar code scanner, you can type or scan the book’s bar code in the entry next to the checkout button.

    The system *presumes* items have barcodes and the cirulation desk has a bar code scanner available. By pre-selecting the book, the bar code field is pre-loaded with the book’s bar code — finding and looking up a patron does not affect that.

    OK the Check out button is there now.

    Now I get a “Error checking out! Result code is 0.”

    The sequence is:

    find and select book
    find and select patron
    checkout

    Did you do *all* of that?

    *Alternitively*

    find and select patron
    scan book barcode (or *manually* enter it)
    checkout

    Does the item (book) have a valid type with an associated loan period?
