Can't click inside posts/pages box with 3.4
-
When I try to write a post or change a page the cursor simply will not click inside the box and there is no content to be seen even when I copy/paste it in….
I am using the Woo theme Optimize with version 3.4. A couple days ago Woo themes support updated the framework I was using and I think that potentially I updated the WP version to 3.4 around the same time. Since this point, the boxes have been broken.
First I went to Woo themes to sort this out as thought it was their framework but their support guys didn’t find anything.
They ran a few standard debugging issues, but not found anything as the culprit. They switched and deleted themes, de-activated plugins, etc… They said “There is something funky going on with WordPress itself and I’m not sure where it’s coming from.
I even ran your site through a security scan and it didn’t find any issues there.”I then had to post in the Woo themes forum to get help from other more skilled devs.
The next Woo support guy thought it may be a JavaScript issue and replied:
“It seems that the main jQuery file bundled with WordPress is either not present or not being loaded correctly.
Did this happen, perchance, after upgrading to WordPress 3.4? If so, I’d recommend doing a reinstall via the “Dashboard > Updates” screen (backup everything before you do) and, if that doesn’t resolve the issue, re-uploading the “wp-includes” folder of your WordPress installation via FTP would ensure that the file is present. :)”So, I reuploaded the wp-includes folder – no change
Then I reuploaded the wp-admin folder too – no change
(at this point all plugins are still deactivated)He then came back with:
“I’ve spent some time in your installation and via FTP and, during testing, disabled all admin-side JavaScript in the WooFramework, to no avail.
It seems the error is coming from within WordPress itself.
If you setup a fresh installation somewhere else (either on your computer or on a different web space somewhere), with the version of Optimize you have running currently, does the error persist? In addition, does switching to the TwentyEleven theme briefly resolve the issue? (this would indicate if the issue is theme-related).”I then did this the following;
1) Install the version of Optimize I happen to have on my computer which is version 1.1. (NOT 2.3.6 as I currently had on the broken site) onto the 2nd test site.
2) Check I can post – ALL OK.
3) Upgrade WP to version 3.4. and check I can post again – ALL OK
4) Switch theme to TwentyEleven and check I can still edit the post – ALL OK
5) Download current version of Optimize I have and upload to new site (Optimize 2.3.6 Framework 5.3.12) and check I can post again – ALL OK
(NB at this point there was also a message saying an old version of “TimThumb” was found and to update which I did but then got an error message saying not enough permissions to do but I guess this is a separate issue!!)
The “optimize custom settings” under the post box comes up in a nicer format than it had done on broken site where only half appeared.
So – Optimize and version 3.4 work ok on the 2nd test site but still not on the broken current site.Because it all worked on the 2nd site I used that version of Optimize to re-upload to the broken site (and renaming the version there to something else temporarily) – this didn’t work either so I reuploaded the former version back.
So that’s where I am at the moment – apparently nothing obvious but desperate to get this back up and working so I can click inside the posts and pages boxes!
Thanks for any input!
