• Greetings:

I hope someone can help with this problem.

We’re attempting to install WordPress on a dedicated Mac OS X Server running 10.4 Tiger. This particular server handles two websites (one in the Library/WebServer/Documents folder and the other in the appropriate User’s>Sites folder). We’ve created a MySQL database, and have placed the WordPress files into the Sites directory of the user account. After setting the database info in the wp-config.php file, attempts to install bring up the “Error establishing a database connection” page.

At this point, I don’t know where to turn. MySQL and Apache have been restarted and are running. MySQL is accessable from the command line. We found some info in Apple’s kbase about conflicts with PHP and MySQL(https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301457), so we set both the mysql.sock and the php.ini file as suggested, then restarted MySQL and Apache again. Still no improvement.

I’ve verified that the OS X user doesn’t need to prepend the MySQL username and db name, so that’s not the problem. I’ve also tried placing a wordpress folder into the Library/WebServer/Documents folder, but WordPress still won’t install.

At this point, I’m out of ideas.

    Suggestions?

    Scott
