I activate jetpack, tell it to connect via wordpress, prompt comes up, I login into wordpress.com with username and password, click the activate link when done and it says

Something went wrong. You need to log in to WordPress.com to enable Jetpack

I am logged in to wordpress. I double and triple checked. I logged into wordpress.com in another tab and my username and pass is correct. Same thing I enter into the interface in admin panel.

From here, I have even told it to switch accounts so I can try again because clicking the “Try again” button yields the same results.

    Hi –

Your WordPress and WordPress.com accounts are two different things. The post sounds like you’re signing in to WordPress not WordPress.com which is what I want to confirm.

If you’ve not created an account on WordPress.com previously you’ll need to do that before things can get connected.

I understand this. I am logged in as admin of our website at mylizzy.com. I am in the admin panel and trying to activate Jetpack. I click the Setup Jetpack button, it says

Activate essential WordPress security and performance tools by setting up Jetpack
    Connecting as {username}

With a approve button or a switch account link. I click the approve button, it says

Something went wrong. You need to log in to WordPress.com to enable Jetpack

The options from there are Try again, contact jetpack support or the approve button (that failed).

The user and password I am using is correct as I can go to another tab, go to WORDPRESS.COM not ORG and log in. But when I enter this info from the jetpack setup screen it gives the error above.

I have tested this multiple times. I have gone so far as to click the try again button, switch account, and reenter my log in info into the WORDPRESS.COM not ORG popup window that comes up from your plugin. I enter the same info (that I enter into wordpress.com in the other tab in my browser and currently logged in under) and again, your plugin gives that error.

I only mention the other tab so that you understand that I have tested my account login at WORDPRESS.COM not ORG and what I am entering is correct.

I hope this clarifies any questions and gives you what you need to guide me on the proper course. Thank you for your time.

    Thanks for the confirmation.

Let’s rule out any browser issues.

    – Let me know what browser type and version number you’re using.
    – Does a different browser work any better?
    – Clear the cache: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache

ok I am using Firefox on a mac. FF version 76.0.1 (64-bit). I tried it in Chrome and it worked. I have not cleared cache yet in FF. Got it working so that is all that matters right now. Thanks.
