I think I’ve done everything according to the directions, but when I go to Connect to Eventbrite and click “Allow,” I get the following message: “There was a problem authorizing with Eventbrite. Please try again in a moment.” I’ve tried this over and over again! Any idea why it won’t work?

    Thanks!

It looks like you may need to clear the cookies from your browser, and also verify that the OAuth Redirect URI is set correctly in your Eventbrite app (#3 under Connecting to Eventbrite in the user guide). Does that help?

Nope. I’ve tried connecting in three different browsers on two different computers, so I’m pretty sure cookies are not the issue, and I’ve double and triple and quadruple checked the OAuth Redirect URI.

I admit we’re at a total loss at this point. Does it work any better with a brand new Eventbrite account?

Drat. I just set up a new Eventbrite account and tried it with that and it still didn’t work! This is the correct OAuth Redirect URI, right? That’s what it says on the Keyring Service Management page.

Yep, looks good; I checked your EB account app too, and all looks good.

I’m sending this in to EB again. To be sure, you’re still getting the error all the time, regardless of browser, account, or computer:

“There was a problem authorizing with Eventbrite. Please try again in a moment.”

Yep, still getting the error! Thank you!

    Hi,

We’ve had another user that corrected this problem by clearing their browser cache, on advice from Eventbrite; could you try that for me please?

RIght, I see you’ve tried that already on multiple computers (this thread is too too long). I’ll check in again with Eventbrite to see if I can get any more ideas.

Hi Laurel, Eventbrite have tried an adjustment to your account, and just want to rule it out; can you try again please, so I can let them know if it fixed the issue?

I tried it in two browsers (after clearing the cache!), and it still didn’t work. This time I got the message “Failed to load your request token while connecting to Eventbrite. Please try again in a moment.” One error message mentioned something about nonces; not sure if that’s any help!

Goodness, it’s like it’s getting worse. Does your Keyring plugin handle connections for anything else other than Eventbrite? Try disabling all other plugins, and using a default theme, and see if that works.

I have successfully connected to Flickr with Keyring! I’ll send you the login information!

    Hi Laurel,

OK, I have some good news and bad news. The good news is that I had no problem connecting to your Eventbrite account and displaying events on my own test site.

The bad news, is that this means there’s something specific to your website that interferes with authenticating. Whether it’s on your side or Eventbrite’s side, I’m not sure; the links look right, and by changing nothing but the redirect URI (which is correct) in the applications (under eventbrite.com > accounts > app management), I can get my test site to connect successfully. Yours is the only case I’ve seen of this situation.

This all leads me to believe that there may be a plugin on your site that’s interfering with something (I noticed you have a few other event plugins also running). At this point, you would need to disable all other plugins and change to a default theme, to see if the problem clears up. If so, then change the theme back, then and back plugins one by one until you can replicate the problem (and know what plugin is responsible). All of which, of course, is incredibly time-consuming and disruptive.

If you pursue this course, keep me informed. Otherwise, you may be better sticking to one of your other event management plugins, if you’re not having problems with them.

Drat. Well, I’ll see what I can do. Thanks for all your effort! I’ll keep you posted. ??
