I’ve got this plugin installed on two sites/WP installs. Both are set to send the back up to an ftp directory.

One site works fine the other gives me the ‘ERROR: Cannot connect to FTP server:’ msg every time. I’ve double checked the ftp settings in the plugin, re-confirmed the location on the actual ftp, even told it to send the back up to the same directory as the working site. Still no luck.

What else can I do to troubleshoot and fix the problem?
    Thanks.

You can try to user an other password with no special chars or a shorter password for testing.

Got the same problem. Cannot connect to https://FTP.. I know it has something to do with my Comodo Firewall, because turning that temporarily off won’t block the incoming data. I made a global rule to allow incoming FTP traffic on port 21 which is the same as set in BackWPUp. Looks like there must be a simple way to fix this.. Any clue?

FTP needs mor pots than 21. 20 is often neede and some more ports for the data connections that will be handeld by the ftp server.

Thanks, however I don’t know which extra ports I should include there. How do I find out?

That arfe not fixed ports. Sorry you can only the manual of our ftp server.
