can’t connect to servers for scan

    Came on to check my Wordfence traffic and was greeted by this error:

    There was an error connecting to the the Wordfence scanning servers: cURL error 7:

    The diagnostic page gave this reading:

    wp_remote_post() test to noc1.wordfence.com failed! Response was: cURL error 7:

    What’s going on here and is there anything I can do about it?

  • Hi @tikatu,

    This cURL error means: Failed to connect() to host or proxy.

    Could you please check with your hosting provider if they’re somehow blocking traffic to the Wordfence servers?

    Please check this article on our documentation platform regarding cURL connection issues.

    Then again it could also have been caused by a temporary connection issue.

    Turned out the outgoing connection had been blocked. I allowed it and now the scan is running properly.

    Thanks for all your help. I’ll remember this for next time it happens.
