    Hi.
    I’m having trouble using the mail function on the website. E.g. when a user fills out the contact form it should send an email to our [email protected] mail, but nothing happens. It gets registered in the backend of WordPress, but the mail is not sent. I have found out, that it is because of the SMTP (Or missing).

    I have installed the plugin to be able to setup the SMTP settings. When I type the information I get the following for the test mail:
    Versions:
    WordPress: 4.9.4
    WordPress MS: No
    PHP: 7.0.27
    WP Mail SMTP: 1.2.5

    Params:
    Mailer: gmail
    Constants: Yes
    Client ID/Secret: Yes
    Auth Code: No
    Access Token: No

    Server:
    OpenSSL: Yes
    PHP.allow_url_fopen: Yes
    PHP.stream_socket_client(): Yes
    PHP.fsockopen(): Yes
    PHP.curl_version(): Yes
    Apache.mod_security: No

    What do I do from here?

    Nanna

    Hi,

    You have not finished configuring the Gmail mailer. You need to click “Allow…” button in Settings, go to Google, allow the SMTP plugin to send emails on your behalf, and after that you will be redirected back to plugin admin area. Everything is covered in your guide, available here.

    If you did that and when redirected from Google to your site and saw any kind of error – that most often a firewall too strict rules (mod_security). You will need to contact your hosting company and ask them to fix that.

    Hi.
    Thanks for answering.

    When I need to click “Allow..” is that in the plugin or at my Gmail account?

    Nanna

    for bluehost woocommerce hosting, when i tried to get access gmail API , also remind me “mod_security”, however this is not the real reason
    seems there is a bug there, but you can bypass it https://aldrinmercado.com/2012/08/26/wp-mail-smtp-in-wordpress-hosted-by-bluehost/
