Can’t Create a category — And many more problems!

I can’t create a category in my wordpress blog. I just recently moved to godaddy.com and I’m having several issues maybe because of godaddy. Other things I can’t do is have a permalink work (I’ve created another forum topic for that) and a .htaccess file not created. I can’t view the Visual mode when creating a page or post. The editor is stuck highlighting on Visual, but actually shows HTML and when I click HTML it doesn’t switch. But right now, I created this post to see if I can fix the problem with not being able to create a category and am wondering if all of these problems are related?? Something has to be wrong since I’ve installed wordpress before on different hosts and never had these problems. Any help.
