I did the migration and it worked!
One problem though..when trying to updating my theme with the integrated upload-function, or upload new files via wordpress, i get the message:
“Can’t create the folder uploads/2013/08. Is the folder above writable by the server?”

So It seems like there’s a permission/rights-problem to write to the upload folder. I probably have to change something manually. However, writing directly to the folder through ftp does work, so it has to be something inside the wordpress-settings, maybe?
Hope someone can help me out…
Looking forward to your reply again!
    Thanks

  • were you asked to enter FTP details when you did the restore?

    yes i believe so.
i think that what i entered was correctly though… the site itself was migrated to the new location correctly, so it had acces through FTP, right?

that’s strange, were you asked to enter ftp details when you tried to update the theme? are you able to install new themes/plugins?

no after that i wasnt asked to enter anymore ftp details..
No i’m not able to install/upload anything to my new installation. No themes, no files, no pictures.
I always get the same message/question:

“Can’t create the folder uploads/2013/08. Is the folder above writable by the server?”

hmm, what are the permission for the ‘uploads’ folder? (use cpanel if you have access)

Looks like i found the solution/problem after all…
I had to change the path in Settings > “media”- tab >
Under “upload files section” i had somehow entered the full path to the upload folder.
    Now i just entered “wp-content/uploads”.

Perhaps something caused a problem because i migrated to a subdomain..i don’t know. However it worked!

Thank you so much for your kind efforts and support!

ah that explains it,the original site must have had that setting.
anyways, glad to hear that everything worked out ??
