• I haven’t posted for a while and now resuming. On all my WordPress blogs, the hyperlink creator doesn’t work as it always has for years. I highlight the text, click on the link button in the menu, paste the URL, click…and nothing happens. ??? Please advise. Thanks.

Thanks so much for the replies. Currently 3.3.1. Should I go with the suggested 3.8.1 at the top of the Dashboard. To be safe before updating, I really want to back up the site(s), but I’m not clear what to do. What’s the procedure for backup? I’d put it on a terra-gig module I have.

One more question, I tried to edit my display name in my profile. Can’t do. Tried to delete profile and begin again. Can’t find. I’m just not that versed in these admin backrooms, and nothing seems at all straightforward.

Thanks for your help in these things.

My theme is Magazine Basic with “1 widget.” Looked on widget page but can’t decipher which widget that 1 is. Not familiar with any of this backroom stuff and hesitate monkeying with things. Might wreck what DOES work already.

First we will deal with the linke issue:
Backup your WordPress using this plugin :
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/backupwordpress/
it will back up all files and DB
one’s you install it go to tools-> backups than click on setting choose to backup database and files
than download the backup so you will have on your desktop.
than update and check if everything works

    Edit profile
To change you display name do to edit your profile and add what you want to the filed first name last name and nickname than click save
After you save you can go to the option “display name publicly as” (the files after nick name) and choose the name you want than click save
Let me know if it works …
