I can’t upload images to any new galleries. When I try to do so, I get the following error message:

No permissions to upload images. Try refreshing the page or ensuring that your user account has sufficient roles/privileges.

I’ve tried logging out / logging back in, or going to other pages then coming back to the Create Gallery page, but nothing works. I had support for my hosting account check to make sure there were no permissions issues, and I can upload images just fine via WP’s Media / Library tools.

  • Hi @genwp

Please try deactivating/activating your NGG plugins and check if that works for you. If the problem it’s solved, it might be linked with an existing bug report, but we already have a release scheduled for tomorrow, which should resolve your issue. Once it is available, please run the update, re-test the site, and see if it works for you. If not, please let us know.

If the problem persists, you might need to check our requirements with your hosting service: https://www.imagely.com/docs/requirements/

Please, let us know how it goes.

Because it has been a month or more since your last reply, I am going to mark this as resolved as I assume you have found a solution. Please feel free to reply again if you still have questions.

Thanks @gabyimagely but the issue persists (I didn’t see you had replied until just now).

What’s weird is that it’ll work fine, and then it doesn’t. And then maybe a week later it works again, but only once. Once I’ve uploaded a batch of images to a new gallery, I can’t do so again.

The site is hosted on SiteGround and they seem to have their act together as far as setting up WP accounts, so it would be very surprising if it were truly a permissions issue, especially since it’ll work once, then not again.

Just now when I had the issue again (I uploaded a bunch of images to a new gallery, and now can’t do it again), I did try to Deactivate / Reactivate, but that didn’t help. It’s still giving me the same error message.

@gabyimagely as a follow-up, currently I’ve found that logging out then logging back in works. That hasn’t always been the case. But not sure if that might be a clue as to what’s going on.

    Hello @genwp

Did you check for existing conflicts?

1.- Temporarily deactivate all your plugins except NextGen Gallery.
2.- Is the problem solved? Then, it was caused by one of your plugins. Please check one by one and find the one causing the problem.
3.- If the problem is not solved with the deactivation of the plugins, try changing to a standard WordPress theme, it could be a conflict with your current theme.

If the problem persists and is not a conflinct you might need to remove NextGen Gallery and Re-install our plugin back again.

Please let us know how it goes.
